Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Team Captain?
Team Captains create their own Santa Team by inviting friends and family to sign up under their team name. Registrants that sign up under your name can either register as an individual runner, donate towards your team's fundraising goal, or do both!
How do I sign up as a Team Captain?
During registration as an individual you'll be asked whether you'd like to create a personal fundraiser and if you'd like to start a team. Select "Yes" to both.
Can individual runners collect donations under their name?
Yes! During registration as an individual, you'll be asked whether you'd like to create a personal fundraiser. Make sure to select "yes".
I'm a caretaker for a person with I/DD or I am someone in the I/DD community. Which ticket do I choose?
After you decide if you're signing up as an individual, as a team leader, or by joining a team, make sure to select the "Developmental Disability Community" ticket during registration and you'll be registered at no charge. Each person with an I/DD can register one additional guest for free under the same ticket option.
What happens after I sign up to be a Team Captain or an individual fundraiser?
After you register as an individual, you can then login using the email and password you used to register as an individual. After you've signed up as an individual, you can log in to your personal fundraising page to make edits such as adding a picture and determining your fundraising goal. You must first activate your personal fundraising page by clicking on the unique link sent to you after you registered before your name will show up under your team's page.
How do I invite others to join my team or make donations under my name? After you're personal fundraising page is set up, you can invite others to join your team or donate under your name by sending them an email or using Facebook or Twitter directly from your page. People can also search your team's name or your name on this event page to sign up with you so make sure to share it widely!
Can people join my team as a runner AND donate under my team name?
Yes, people can either join your team as a runner, just donate under your name (aren't planning to attend the event), or do both.
Can I just participate in the run without becoming a fundraiser or joining a team?
Most definitely. Just register as an individual and you're all set.
I can't attend but I'd like to donate. Is that possible?
Yes, just select the "Donate" button at the top of the page. If you want to donate under a specific person's name or team, simply search for them using the search bars above.
I signed up multiple people during registration but their names are not showing up on my team's page. Why not?
When you register others (pay for their registration) make sure to select "yes" to becoming a fundraiser when registering them. If the person is a minor or does not have an email, use your email when registering them so that you can activate their personal fundraising page by clicking on the link sent to you after paying. If a registrant does not have a personal fundraising page, they will not show up on your team's page.
I signed up to join someone's team but my name isn't showing up on their team page. Why not?
In order to show up on a team's page, you need to select "yes" to becoming an individual fundraiser during registration (even if you don't plan on actually fundraising). If you signed up as an individual fundraiser, you'll receive a unique link via email that you must activate (click on) before your name will show up on the team's page. If you have additional questions about joining a team, contact marketing@hrarc.org.
I want to add multiple tickets to my cart on behalf of other people. Why can't I use the same email?
Bah! We know this is so annoying. Unfortunately, the platform we use requires each registrant to have a unique email even if they are children. The simplest way to get around this is to modify your existing Gmail account (note this is specific to Gmail addresses) by adding a dot somewhere in your address. For example, if your email address is Julia@gmail.com you can modify it to jul.ia@gmail.com. The system will recognize it as a separate email even though all ticket information will be sent to the same address (in this case, julia@gmail.com). Adding a third person? Add a dot somewhere else! Such as j.ulia@gmail.com and voila! You're set.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to reach out to marketing@hrarc.org.
Do I have to bring my own Santa suit?
Each adult registration includes a pub crawl style Santa suit that you'll pick up and put on over your clothes right before the race and are yours to keep. Children between the ages of 3-11 will receive a special hat complete with elf ears. And don't forget to dress warm!
How long is the route?
The race route is about .5 miles long and begins and ends in front of City Hall. This year, the route will include games, activities, and entertainment along the way so feel free to take your time and enjoy the scenery.
I prefer to walk or I have mobility challenges. Can I still participate?
Please do! This is an inclusive event that is wheelchair, walker, and stroller friendly.
Will the run be rescheduled if the weather is bad?
This event is rain, snow, or shine so make sure to bundle up!
Will there be food and drinks?
Snacks, treats, and hot drinks will be provided before and after the event.
Where should I park?
The City of Harrisonburg will be closing part of Main Street for Winter Wonderfest which will take place Saturday, December 2rd. Public parking is available at City Hall, Turner Pavilion, Water Street Parking Deck. Street parking on the East side of Mason Street (residential) is also available. For more information about downtown parking, visit this site.
